MORE THAN A CENTURY
OF DISTINCTION

A governor, several senators, a State Bar Association president, even the director of Richard Nixon's impeachment hearing – all have one thing in common. They all rose through the ranks of the Wisconsin law firm of Doar Drill & Skow and have been making a difference in northwest Wisconsin for more than 120 years.

Frank Fuller, a life-long resident of our Wisconsin region, founded the law firm of Doar Drill & Skow in 1883. In 1884, Fuller persuaded his law clerk, William McNally, to take the bar exam, and together they formed the law firm of Fuller & McNally. While Fuller retired the next year, McNally continued the practice until his death in 1923. In 1901, Fuller & McNally moved into a new building on the corner of First and Knowles Street in New Richmond. That office is still there to this day.

In 1908, after completing law school, W.T. Doar, Sr. joined William McNally’s practice. A short time later, the Doar name was added to the firm. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, Doar gained recognition throughout northern Wisconsin as a vigorous and diligent trial and appellate lawyer.

In 1933, future governor of Wisconsin Warren P. Knowles joined the firm, and from 1935 to 1964 the firm was known as Doar & Knowles. James A. Drill joined the firm and has distinguished himself with more than 40 years of service to the citizens of northwestern Wisconsin, handling nearly every type of legal matter.

In addition to concentrating on the Wisconsin legal issues of their individual and corporate clients, Doar Drill & Skow has long believed that its members should be involved in public service. This philanthropic commitment was started by W.T. Doar, who served as president of the State Bar Association, and exemplified by Warren Knowles, who was elected governor of Wisconsin for three terms.

John Doar, the youngest son of W.T. Doar, Sr., joined the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice in 1960. He went on to serve as Special Counsel in the impeachment proceedings against Richard Nixon.

Active involvement in public service remains a hallmark of the firm today. Numerous attorneys have held positions of leadership in the St. Croix Valley Bar Association and Wisconsin State Bar Association. Most of the attorneys are members of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Today, Doar Drill & Skow continues to serve the people of northwestern Wisconsin with the same care, integrity and results that have marked the past 120 years. If you have been injured in an accident or have other legal concerns, you can select Doar Drill & Skow with confidence. Our attorneys are well known and highly respected by their peers. There is no need to travel to the Twin Cities, Madison or Milwaukee to get top quality, effective legal representation when one of the top personal injury law firms is right here practicing in – and giving back to – our community.
